PRESS RELEASE November I5, 2005

ENVIRONMENTAL UPDATE

• New Enviroguard Washout System
Shamrock Materials is proud to announce that all company ready-mix concrete delivery trucks are being
fitted with the Enviroguard Washout System to facilitate environmentally sound handling of jobsite slurry
and waste water. The Enviroguard system allows Shamrock to take proactive control and responsibility to
assure that environmental standards are exceeded and jobsite wastes are properly treated to insure
absolutely minimal environmental impact.

Environmental responsibility and safety are a significant part of our partnership with the community. We are always
looking for new technologies, improved efficiencies and better ways of working to protect the environment. We’re
proud to announce that the testing of our new Enviroguard Washout System has proven significant benefits and this
technology will be fitted to our entire ready-mix fleet by the end of this year.

The need for the Enviroguard system arises as every jobsite delivery of ready-mix concrete requires the washout of
delivery chutes as well as cleanup of excess material. Typical procedure calls for the contractor or builder to set up
and maintain a washout area. These washout areas can present environmental problems as high-pH waste water
may leach into ground water, and excess concrete and slurry create disposal issues. The effectiveness of jobsite
washout techniques varies widely and can present significant environmental problems.

With our new Enviroguard Washout System each Shamrock truck carries a complete, self-contained system to provide
an efficient and consistent means to handle the washout, capture waste and insure environmentally sound practices
on each and every delivery to every jobsite.

Shamrock’s Enviroguard technology is a truck-mounted chute-wash system that allows our drivers to “wash-out” and
capture slurry and waste water back into their own ready mix trucks. All waste materials then return to our facilities
and are eventually recycled into building materials.

This new system reduces environmental concerns and eliminates potential problems with jobsite washout areas. It
eliminates jobsite wastes and also allows for proper washout procedures to be accomplished, regardless of jobsite
location, conditions or access issues.

Testing and installation of the Enviroguard system is entirely an initiative of Shamrock’s environmental responsibility
policy, and is not a requirement. Shamrock’s Enviroguard is a significant step to address a legitimate concern and
simply a better way to deal with jobsite wastes.

We strive to find excellent solutions to environmental issues and are continually looking for ways to improve our
systems and services and minimize their environmental impact.

Sincerely,

SHAMROCK MATERIALS INC.
